Curriculum Summary:
Participants of all skill levels will walk away with 7+ draft writings dedicated to numerous craft techniques in the scifi/fantasy genres (e.g. characterization, conflict/stakes, worldbuilding, dialogue), as well as one finalized flash scifi/fantasy story. Writers will receive and provide peer review from/for fellow campers and will benefit from individualized feedback from their instructors.
SciFi/Fantasy: Imagine New Worlds Virtual Writing Summer Camp for Teens (ages 13-19)
Schedule: August 3 – 7, 2026, 1:30 – 3:00 p.m. ET
During online writing workshop sci fi fantasy, you’ll engage in interactive writing activities, connect with peers around the world, and work together to grow your writing skills.
Between workshop sessions, you may be asked to work independently (and asynchronously) on writing prompts and activities, guided by peer and expert reviews, at your own pace, for approximately 1-2 hours, depending on your facilitator’s workshop plan. You will also receive individualized feedback that will strengthen your writing.
*Please note that we require all participants of the online writing workshop sci fi fantasy to appear on either video or audio during online group meetings (video is preferred, but not required).

Ryan La Sala
Ryan is the author behind the bestselling cottagecore horror, The Honeys, which is in development to become a major motion picture with Anonymous Content. He is also the author of Beholder, Reverie and Be Dazzled. He has been featured in The New York Times Book Review, Entertainment Weekly, NPR, and more. He writes to you from New York, overseen by his cat, Haunted Little Girl.

Rebecca Podos
Senior Agent Rebecca Podos (she/they) has been with the Rees Literary Agency since 2011. She specializes in Young Adult fiction and Adult genre fiction. A graduate of the MFA Writing, Literature and Publishing program at Emerson College, her own Young Adult fiction is published by Balzer+Bray, Running Press Kids, and Page Street, with her adult debut forthcoming from Del Rey. Madison Zuñiga
Madison Zuñiga is a recent graduate of Concordia University Irvine, where she earned degrees in creative writing and studio arts. During her time at university, she guided fellow students through the writing process in the on-campus writing studio. Madison was also a young writer on Write the World, where she deeply valued the global connections it fostered and the opportunity to engage with diverse perspectives. She now serves as a College Essay Reviewer for Write the World, where she’s passionate about helping young writers find and communicate their unique narratives during the college essay process. Madison enjoys supporting others in expressing their experiences and is excited to continue offering meaningful guidance to students in their writing journeys.
Violeta Nicola
Violeta is an Expert Advisor at Write the World with a background in journalism, international relations, and storytelling. She has spent over nine years working with international publications and nonprofits and holds degrees in International Relations and Security and Diplomacy.
A passionate reader and content creator, Violeta loves sharing book recommendations and literary insights online. She’s excited to work with young writers and help them develop their ideas, strengthen their voice, and grow as storytellers.
