Curriculum Summary:
Participants of all skill levels will walk away with 10+ draft writings dedicated to craft techniques in the fiction genre, from dialogue to characterization, conflict to setting, figurative language to point of view, and more. Writers will work toward the creation of one finalized flash fiction story to share with peers, will receive and provide written and verbal peer review, and will benefit from individualized feedback from their instructors.
Fiction Writing: The Art of Storytelling Virtual Summer Camp for Teens (ages 13-19)
Schedule: August 3 – 7, 2026, 11:00 a.m.–12:30 p.m. ET
During workshop sessions, you’ll engage in interactive writing activities, connect with peers around the world, and work together to grow your writing skills.
Between workshop sessions, you may be asked to work independently (and asynchronously) on writing prompts and activities, guided by peer and expert reviews, at your own pace, for approximately 1-2 hours, depending on your facilitator’s workshop plan. You will also receive individualized feedback that will strengthen your writing.
*Please note that we require all participants to appear on either video or audio during online group meetings (video is preferred, but not required).

Guest Speaker:
Rowana Miller
Rowana Miller writes about riddles, goblins, secrets, strange girls, and mischief. She is also the founder and Executive Director of Cosmic Writers, a nonprofit that provides creative writing education for kids and teenagers, and an adjunct professor at Pace University. A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, she lives in New York City with her wife, Penelope, and two cats, Alice and Jabberwocky. Her debut novel, Secrets of the Blue Hand Girls, was named one of Marie Claire’s Best Thrillers of 2025.
Workshop Facilitators:
Faith Fischer
Faith Fischer is a college student studying game design audio and fiction filmmaking. They have multiple accomplishments in creative writing, including a Scholastic Writing regional gold key for their writing portfolio and critical essay, alongside a regional honorable mention in science fiction. Faith experiments with a wide range of writing forms and genres, from science fiction to horror, from poetry to novel writing. Currently, Faith is working on several novels in progress. At Write the World, Faith is a Community Ambassador alum and was a Clara AI pilot tester. With their broad creative background and experience across genres, Faith brings both flexibility and enthusiasm to their role as a summer camp facilitator, supporting and mentoring young writers across a wide spectrum of creative writing topics.
Vivian Zhi
Vivian is an undergraduate student at the University of Toronto majoring in English and Book & Media Studies. Beyond academic pursuits, her journey has been shaped by hands-on editorial experience. As a former intern at Renaissance Press and Canadian Mennonite University Press, she honed her skills in acquisition editing, crafting promotional copy, and building audience connections. Vivian's commitment is further evident in her volunteer work, such as serving as a Community Ambassador at Write the World, where she guided young voices to craft authentic personal essays.This passion fueled her role as Publishing Director at INKspire, where she spearheaded the Writer Fellowship Program, nurturing 20 writers and streamlining operations. Vivian looks forward to continuing to help young writers create a personal essay that authentically captures their story and spirit.
Tula Singer
Tula Jiménez Singer, Write the World intern, is a Cuban-American writer and third-year student at Northeastern University. You can read her work on The Green Blotter, The Teen Magazine, The Weight Journal, Indigo Literary Journal, and Coelacanth 2022, among others. In addition to writing and her work with Write the World, she has been an intern at GrubStreet and The Boston Globe, and also works as the Social Media Manager of Spectrum Literary Arts Magazine, the Events Coordinator of Artistry Magazine, and a writer for Woof Magazine. Her pieces are a slice of her life — filled with jazz, oceans, identity crises, and chocolate. She writes because she cannot let it go.
